Remain calm.

"If then it's not that the things you pursue or avoid are coming at you, but rather that you in a sense are seeking them out, at least try to keep your judgment of them steady, and they too will remain calm and you won't be seen chasing after or fleeing from them."

-Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

Stoicism, from what I’ve experienced, is often cast in a negative light. Someone who displays stoic tendencies (in modern terms) may be seen as not caring or awkwardly quiet or not able to display emotion.

First, we all have a lot going on under the surface. Everyone does. Some manage it well. Some still need some practice. But, there’s a time and a purpose to everything. Especially in times of chaos (they happen to all of us), I’d rather try to remain calm and approach the challenges as logically as possible before letting my emotions get the better of me.

Am I perfect at that? No. But looking back, I know the times I’ve experienced adversity, or seen other dealing with adversity, it typically is mitigated through coolheadedness and equity.

Maybe you prefer a more dramatic flare to make a point or difference. To each his or her own. But my take is that calm on the battlefield is the way to victory.
